Independent Day Celebration goes top gear in Port Loko {Courtsey   By Hassan Bruz Northern Bureau Chief Rebranding Sierra Leone -26/04/2014} Since the attainment of Political  Independence 55 years ago, Port Loko is widely known for its unique pattern of either celebrating or commemorating the 27th. Day of every April. It is so notorious in this aspect that there is always an influx of people from every part of the country. Others even do come from abroad. As for the descendants of this great District, it is a do or dies issue. I learnt that their women would prefer divorce with their husbands than to be denied the opportunity to attend this annual event. As is the practise in most parts of the country, the normal pattern of celebrating Independent Anniversary in Port Loko is traditionally a display of Mask Devils or Totems throughout the Township. The bulk of those who come to grace the occasion, spend a better half of their time drinking, singing and dancing. Now that it has become a

EMMERSON  BOAKARIE - Singer/ Songwriter! Provokes Government Into Action!! "MUNKU BOS PAN MATCHES...e jus dae kratch"! - a trivialisation of government's efforts, procedures, policies and actions with satirical emotions!!🎤 This crafty sub-title to the album "Survivor", by Emmerson has jiggled the  'effey' spots of some defenders of our party the APC and allowed to generate discussions about the way ahead in the development and prosperity of Sirerra Leone. Like Fela Kuti (RIP) of Nigeria, Emmerson provokes governments into action by using 'emotive' vibes in his tracks embellished with rhythmic beats that attracts wiggling attention. How many times and how many different governments in Nigeria did Fela Kuti not 'inspire' to look back at POLICIES and procedures that these governments proposed and implemented which do not meet with the requirements and satisfaction of the people. "...e  jus dae kratch"! , emphasises superficiality

UK firm 'employed former child soldiers' as mercenaries in Iraq Former director acknowledges Aegis Defence Services  may have recruited former child fighters in Sierra Leone { Courtsey:   Alice Ross, theGuardian; Sunday 17 April 2016} A former senior director at a British firm says that it employed mercenaries from Sierra Leone to work in Iraq because they were cheaper than Europeans and did not check if they were former  child soldiers . James Ellery, who was a director of Aegis Defence Services between 2005 and 2015, said that contractors had a “duty” to recruit from countries such as  Sierra Leone , “where there’s high unemployment and a decent workforce”, in order to reduce costs for the US presence in Iraq. “You probably would have a better force if you recruited entirely from the Midlands of England,” Ellery, a former brigadier in the British army, told the Guardian. “But it can’t be afforded. So you go from the Midlands of England to Nepalese etc etc, Asians, and then at

TRUMP ON SIERRA LEONE                (VERY AMUSING)         PONDER MY THOUGHTS                  BY   Andrew Keili This letter by Donald Trump is in response to recent news making the rounds in social media about his purported comments on Sierra Leone. His letter dissociating himself from this issue and providing greater clarity on his views is reproduced here unedited. "Dear good people of Sierra Leone,   My attention has been drawn to a letter making the rounds and purportedly written by me on your country Sierra Leone. My first inclination when my aides told me about it was to just brush it aside, as the last thing I wanted to do was to engage some drug infested South American country shipping drugs and immigrants to our great America. When I was however told that your country is in West Africa and only owes this strange name to a Portuguese explorer who discovered your country, my interest was rekindled and I actually got to read the letter. I could understand your gove
