"MUNKU BOS PAN MATCHES...e jus dae kratch"
EMMERSON BOAKARIE - Singer/ Songwriter! Provokes Government Into Action!!
"MUNKU BOS PAN MATCHES...e jus dae kratch"! - a trivialisation of government's efforts, procedures, policies and actions with satirical emotions!!🎤
This crafty sub-title to the album "Survivor", by Emmerson has jiggled the 'effey' spots of some defenders of our party the APC and allowed to generate discussions about the way ahead in the development and prosperity of Sirerra Leone. Like Fela Kuti (RIP) of Nigeria, Emmerson provokes governments into action by using 'emotive' vibes in his tracks embellished with rhythmic beats that attracts wiggling attention. How many times and how many different governments in Nigeria did Fela Kuti not 'inspire' to look back at POLICIES and procedures that these governments proposed and implemented which do not meet with the requirements and satisfaction of the people. "...e jus dae kratch"!, emphasises superficiality and lacking effectiveness of some of the actions being done in the development arena of the State; at least, that is how Emmerson sees it! This personal subjective, trivialised view and feeling of a passionate musician who has to find his daily bread, is a blessings in disguise, as it, in my opinion, assists all confines of our government to wake up to the occasion and thight up its boots strings.
As a musician myself, (in my own small way), I deeply disagree with and resent any negative action from any 'official(s)' or party member who strive to "put the brakes" on an individual who has the full right to express his/her opinion.
Emmerson is a musician, with foresight! In 2005 when I was on a short visit to Sierra Leone, I was asked in an interview at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation about my feelings regarding the type of music that the young musicians (and their lyrics) were singing. This was the time of "Bobo Bele", and the SLPP Kabba government. I plainly responded with a cautionary admonition that the musicians must be "LISTENED" to, otherwise there will just be negative repercussions at the end of the turnel!!
Well, it is history now; we all know what happened in the elections of 2007 (and indeed, 2012).
Not that I have any doubt that similar fate awaits the APC (my party) in 2018, I might hasten to add; nor do I recognise any crumbs of seriousness in opposition or challenges from the SLPP - (a party in need of serious reconstruction and regeneration)!
"MUNKU BUS PAN MATCHES - e jus dae kratch" is simply satire!! There are many strands to GOVERNANCE! and not every nooks and crannies will enjoy the full desired benefits that each strand demands or in need of. So the government (and any temperamental officials) must simply enjoy the moment, and let the uforia pass with glee, whilst corrective actions be taken or put in place if such be the case.
Many may recall the satirical "Mr Blobby
For Prime Minister" in the early 1990s, which was the time things were not 'going so well' in the UK. Mr Blobby went to Number 10 (the official residence of the British Prime Minister) and sat in front if the entrance to "TAKE OVER AND RUN THE COUNTRY" (sic)! Literally, the Prime Minister (and his government) cannot perform his duties to the satisfaction of the citizenry, so we need a much more robust leader and the best of such was (guess who?) - Mr BLOBBY!
" YES!! I BLOBBY (in my Pink and Yellow Poker Dots) can run Britain far better than this Prime Minister who can hardly function".
So, let EMMERSON BOAKARIE have his say in music, let the government continue to do the good developmental work and hit its goal which focuses in the "AGENDA FOR PROSPERITY "
